Kyphosis: The anatomical term for the normal backward curve concerning the structure of the mid back (thoracic spine), which should measure about 37 degrees. A measurement over 40 degrees would be considered hyper-kyphotic, and a measurement under 35 degrees is considered hypo-kyphotic. Any kyphosis of the cervical or lumbar spine should be considered an abnormal anatomical configuration.
