Suncoast Healthcare Professionals was established to provide total conservative healthcare in the fields of Chiropractic, massage, functional and structural rehabilitation, nutrition and endocrine function, women's health including hormones and fertility, and patient and community education.

MOTTO

We realize that many people fear, or just don't like going to the doctor. In our opinion, lack of understanding and personal rapport, create this ambivalence. The doctors of Suncoast Healthcare Professionals strive to be better, therefore our motto is, "ONE MORE STEP!" In health and human growth, as in life, one more step can make the difference.

BRIEF HISTORY

The Chiropractic profession has been in existence from September 18, 1895 . In essence spinal manipulation and Chiropractic's holistic approach to health care can be traced back as far as Egyptian times. Over the last 110 years Chiropractic Physicians fought hard for licensure, and the right to treat patients according to their discipline. They were supported by patients all over the world for their healing hands. At one point in time Chiropractors even went to jail to preserve the Chiropractic Profession. The Chiropractor has emerged as only the third profession to be granted the level of Primary Care Physician as well as the Osteopathic and Medical doctors.

The founders of Suncoast Healthcare Professionals, Drs. Leatherman and Dr. Smith all want to preserve the holistic and minimally invasive approach to patient care as well as providing the latest research and acumen to health. Our approach to health focuses on rehabilitation and wellness. Wellness is not just the absence of disease, pain, or infirmity, but a concentration on the body as a whole unit. Normal is not what we strive for! Optimal structure, conditioning, and function are our ultimate goals.

The public as a mass is looking for advances in personal and family health. Pharmaceutical and surgical procedures are on the rise, but public want is not. Led by the baby boomer generation, the American Public yearns to be active and fit well after retirement age. Holistic/conservative/alternative care approaches accounted for over 50% of all health care field visits in the year of 2003, and this continues to grow. At Suncoast Healthcare Professionals, we look forward to providing care for patients from one to one hundred years of age.
